Operating Policy and Rules

Boast-SquashOPERATING POLICY AND
RULES AND REGULATIONS
2024

The following rules and regulations of Boast Squash (the “Club”) are set forth in the best interests of the Club and its members.  Thank you for becoming familiar with these rules and please enjoy your time at Boast Squash.  These rules are effective immediately and are subject to change, without notice, and to interpretation by Club management.

Membership

  1. A membership application must be completed and approved.
  2. Monthly fees and charges are billed each month to the member’s Club account. Monthly fees and charges are subject to change at the discretion of the Club. Members will be given written notification prior to any changes in fees and charges. If a member has prepaid fees prior to this change, the member may be responsible for the difference, if any.
  3. The obligation to pay fees and charges is not dependent upon the availability of the Club’s facilities. Repairs, maintenance, government mandates, safety or special programs or events may require the restriction of use or closing of the Club, certain courts or various areas from time to time. Fees and charges will not be reduced or suspended during the time when such facilities are not available.
  4. To use the Club’s facilities, you must be a member in good standing or an invited guest of a member in good standing or otherwise have approved access by Club Management. Membership fobs will be issued for all members and must be used to gain access to the Club at times when the Club is not staffed. To replace a lost membership fob, there will be a replacement fee (currently $25.00).
  5. Membership privileges may not be loaned to other persons under any circumstance.
  6. Full Membership categories include Individual, Primary, Family, Senior, Intermediate and Junior memberships. Other memberships or access rights have certain restrictions and requirements. For example, Guest Access, 7 Day,  60 Day and 90 Day memberships do not include guest privileges and are not granted full membership privileges for club tournaments and programs.  For  Weekender Members, Club use is limited to Saturdays/Sundays, but otherwise, Weekender Members have full privileges, may host guests, may participate in Club member-only events, tournaments, ladders etc. and are entitled to member pricing on lessons and programs. Weekender Members may use the Club on a weekday after notifying the Club in writing and making a court reservation and upon such use will be charged a daily guest fee. Failing to notify will result in a triple rate guest fee being posted to the member’s account.
  7. For Junior Memberships, Children age 8, but under age 10, pay one-half (50%) of the Junior Membership rate and 1/2 of the initial joining fee.  Children under 8 years old play squash free on any full membership (one child per adult on the full membership).

Membership Change of Status

  1. A member may change membership status by notifying the Club, in writing, 30 days prior to the proposed change.
  2. If a member is upgrading (changing to a higher membership category) there will be a charge amounting to the difference in the current fees (such as joining fees or monthly fees) between the membership categories, if any. The joining fee paid initially for the lower tier membership will be credited to any additional joining fee due for the upgrade in membership.    If the member has maintained an account in the lower tier membership category continuously (no holds, etc.) for at last one full year prior to the upgrade, the additional joining fee amount may be waived by the Club.  An administrative service fee (currently $25) will also be charged for upgrading membership.
  3. If a member is downgrading (changing to a lower membership category) there will be no refund of the difference in the current fees between the membership categories.  An administrative service fee (currently $25) will be charged for downgrading membership.
  4. Change of membership type is limited to only those plans currently available and  must be from/to the same category of membership (e.g., from one form of full membership (as opposed to short-term memberships) to another).
  5. A downgrade change of status may be made no more than once in a 12 month period.
  6. When a member ages out of the Junior or Intermediate membership categories, the member’s membership will be automatically changed to the next applicable membership category (based on age) without administrative charge to the member, but with monthly fees at the new rate. Other “age out” membership categories will be honored upon a member’s written request.
  7. A member may request (in writing, 30 days prior to the proposed hold start date) to place their membership on hold. An administrative service fee (currently $25) will be charged for placing a membership on hold. A monthly hold fee (currently $25) will be charged to the member’s account each month that the membership remains on hold.    When a member wishes to activate a membership that was placed on hold, the member must inform the Club in writing of the requested date of re-activation.  The member’s access fob(s) will be activated on the requested date and the member’s account will be charged for the full applicable membership rate from and after that date. Membership holds will not alter the anniversary/renewal date of the membership. There are no enrollment fees upon activation following a hold. A member wishing to terminate a membership (either at or prior to the member’s anniversary date), must activate the membership (request to remove any hold) at least 60 days prior to termination of the membership.
  8. Upon written request and at the sole discretion of Club management, a temporary injury/medical hold on a full membership may be granted for a limited time period. Upon request, in the event an injury/medical hold request is granted, administrative service fees and monthly hold fees may be waived by Club management.

Termination of Membership

  1. A member may terminate an active membership upon a 60 day written notice to the Club and return of all access fobs. An active membership is a membership that is not currently on hold. A member wishing to terminate a membership (either at or prior to the member’s anniversary date), must activate the membership (request to remove any hold) at least 60 days prior to termination of the membership before a membership may be terminated.
  2. Access fobs must be returned to the Club upon termination in order to stop monthly fees.  Applicable membership termination fees are listed in the membership agreement.
  3. The Club reserves the right at any time to suspend or terminate the membership status of any member for failure to comply with Club rules and regulations, nonpayment of fees and charges, or any conduct determined to be improper or detrimental to the Club or its members. In the event of suspension, the members may be held responsible for all fees and charges and any additional charges to their account until their fobs are returned.
  4. Short term, non-resident and day rate memberships are designed for limited usage, are not full Club memberships and are subject to restrictions at the discretion of the Club.  Any prior day rate membership access privileges not utilized within six (6) months of purchase will automatically expire.

Club Charges

  1. Members should set up their online account through the ClubAutomation System (boastsquash.clubautomation.com) for online access, account information, court reservations, etc.  Account access is also available through the Boast Squash App (App Store or Google Play:  “Boast Squash”).
  2. Members who are current with their accounts may have club charges (lessons, programs, guests, pro shop, etc.) billed to their “house” (Club charge) account.  Charges will typically be billed at the time of sale; however, any unpaid fees or charges will be computed at the end of each month. Statements are available by logging into your member account at boastsquash.clubautomation.com  or the Boast Squash Mobile App. House accounts that remain unpaid 10 days from the billing date for any reason will be considered delinquent. A member whose account is 10 days delinquent may be placed on a “credit hold” (no charges allowed on the account) and may be denied access to the Club until the account is brought to a current status. A member who fails to pay fees or other charges after 30 days is subject to automatic membership termination or suspension of privileges (with all applicable with all applicable fees still being charged to the account). The Club reserves the right to disallow future charging privileges and/or require immediate payment of all fees and charges.
  3.  All Members should check in at the main entry door upon entering the Club by scanning their fob on the door scanner (even if the door is not locked).
  4. Boast Squash accepts cash, check, MasterCard and Visa as forms of payment (sorry, but American Express and Discover cards are not accepted). House (Club charge) accounts are available to all members.  However, all members must provide EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) information (either credit card or bank account) for monthly billing and house accounts.  All unpaid membership fees and charges placed on the house account will automatically be withdrawn from the EFT account on approximately the 3rd day of the month.  All non-members are required to pay for all activities prior to the event through the front desk, pro shop or Club staff.
  5. The Club may suspend Club use and charging privileges if the Club believes the member’s ability to pay such charges may be impaired.
  6. There will be a per month late fee charge (currently $25) on past due accounts. Further, there will be a $50 charge for any returned checks.
  7. The Club’s primary payment option is via EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer), wherein your bank (via credit card or bank account) automatically pays the Club invoice on the 1st day of each month. Members may review their account statement through the boastsquash.clubautomation.com website.
  8. Charges for any Club add-ons or programs such as ladders, leagues, challenges, tournaments, lessons, clinics, lockers, rewards programs, social or other  programming are non-refundable.  Automatically renewing monthly charges for any such add-ons or programs will continue to be billed to the member’s account until a member otherwise notifies the Club in writing.  After written request, any stoppages in items automatically billed monthly will be effective on the 1st day of the immediately following month.
  9. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for any charges accumulated by the children or others linked to their membership.

Days of Operation

  1. The Club will be open year round with the exception of possible  reduced programming, or reduced hours on the following: Easter Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Regular lessons, programs, clinics, etc. will not be held on the above holidays.
  2. The Club and Courts may also be closed at certain times during the year for general maintenance, improvements of the facilities or special events. This does not include emergency situations or government mandates for which the Club may be fully or partially closed. No membership refunds are given for these closures.
  3. The Club’s operating hours are 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Members may access the Club as of 6:00 a.m. each day. Fob access to the Club ends at 7:00 p.m. and all members and guests must leave the Club by not later than 8:00 p.m.  The Club alarm system arms automatically after these times.
  4. The Club reserves the right to schedule tournaments, exhibitions, parties, promotional programs, rentals, leagues, private events, and other special events, in which case some or all of the Club’s facilities may not be available for use by members.  The Club may also be closed  without notice due to weather, emergencies, utility cut offs, government order or other exigent circumstances.   No membership refunds are given for these closures.

Club Communications

  1. The Club may communicate with members in writing via email, SMS texts, US Mail or on-site announcements (via video displays or posted announcements) in the Club. Members are responsible for being aware of  and reading Club communications regularly.  WhatsApp is used as an informal tool for member to member-to-member communications. WhatsApp is not an official means of formal communication to the Club. If members wish to communicate to the Club in writing they should do so via either email, hand delivery or US Mail. All “official” communications or notices to the Club or Club staff must be in writing.  Verbal communications may not be acted upon by the Club or staff.
  2. The Club uses SMS texts from a central account to communicate important or otherwise desirable information to members.  Members opting out of receiving SMS text communications from the Club do so at their own risk of not receiving desirable or important information. Members must affirmatively “opt-in” on their own SMS device(s) once they have “opted-out”.

Guests

The current Guest fee is $25 per guest, per visit.

  1. Subject to Club restrictions announced from time to time,  full Club members may bring guests to the Club to use Club facilities (i.e., the squash courts, fitness area or locker rooms) by giving advanced notice to the Club, making a guest reservation and by completely filling out a Guest Form and Guest Use Agreement at the front desk to register the guest. As a key-card access Club, all guests are the responsibility of the member, and ALL guests must be registered at the Front desk BEFORE any use of the Club facilities.  A guest is defined as any person not currently a member of the Club (including any family members not currently on a Club membership).
  2. When hosting a guest, each guest should be added to a court reservation made by the member. Guest Reservations may be made by adding “Guest User” as the second reservation name (after the member name) unless your guest is already registered in the boastsquash.clubautomation.com system. Once a guest has registered in the Clubautomation system (so, all 2nd time and subsequent guests), the guest’s name will populate in the reservation and Guest Use systems.
  3. Only full Club members have the above guest privileges. Short term (60/90 day), 7-day non-resident memberships and guest access users do not have guest privileges.
  4. Anyone not properly registering a guest, will automatically be assessed a charge of three (3x) times the current guest fee.
  5. The host member must be present during the guest’s entire stay in the Club – that is, from the time they enter the Club until the time the guest exits the Club.
  6. Subject to the above rules, members are encouraged to bring guests to the Club. The Club reserves the right to limit the number of guests visits for a individual member.  Members may not  host more than two (2) guests at one time.   If a member has special circumstances  and wishes to exceed these restrictions, please seek approval for this from Club management in advance. Exceptions may be granted on a very limited basis in proper circumstances in the discretion of Club management.
  7. All guests of a member will incur a per guest, per visit fee, which is the sole responsibility of the member and will be billed to the member’s Club account.  No other payments are accepted.  The current fee is $25.00 per guest per visit (plus applicable sales tax).
  8. Guests have access to the same facilities as the member and must observe all Club rules, regulations and policies. Members are responsible for making their guests aware of the applicable Club rules, regulations and policies.

Inclement Weather

During a winter storm or when there is a traveler’s advisory, the Club hours of operation may be restricted and programs may be cancelled. Contact the Club prior to coming.  We will also attempt to communicate our status via social media, texts or email communications.

All unused sessions of lesson and clinic packages automatically expire if not used within six (6) months from the date of purchase unless otherwise agreed in writing by Club Management.

  4. Non-members may participate in lessons and clinics at non-member rates.  Note:  there is no non-member squash play permitted before or after a lesson or clinic. Non-member lesson and clinic rates are for lesson/clinic session time only.  If non-members desire squash play before or after lesson/clinic session times they must be hosted as guests of a member per Guest Policy above.
  5. Junior Academy credits for both lessons and clinics and Junior Introductory Clinic packages  “roll-over” if not used.  In other words, credits are used from a package when attending a lesson or only, but otherwise remain as “credits” until used. 6. Lesson and clinic packages, including adult and junior packages are non-refundable.

Reservation and Cancellation Policies

  1. All cancellations must generally be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson, clinic, event or program.  Participants not giving sufficient notice may be subject to charges/billing for the scheduled program.  Private lessons not cancelled with sufficient notice will be left to the coach/instructor’s discretion as to charges for the scheduled lesson time.  Court reservations should be cancelled online if they will not be used.  Others may use a reserved court and the reservation will be cancelled if the reserving member has not arrived within 10 minutes of the scheduled reservation start time.
  2. Reservation times are 1 ½ hours for singles and 2 hours for doubles.

  2. Courts may be used for squash play only and squash specific training only, unless approved in advance by Club management.
  3. Only proper equipment may be used. Proper non-marking, court shoes must be worn at all times. 4. Please treat the courts with respect and care at all times. If there is a physical problem with court walls, doors, floors or glass, please call the issue to the attention of Club Staff immediately.
