MUBASHIR (SHOBY) GUL
LEAD SQUASH PROFESSIONAL

Mubashir (Shoby) Gul is the Lead Squash Professional at Boast Squash. Shoby was previously the Head Squash Pro at Life Time Fitness (LTF) in St. Louis Park, Minnesota and at the Minneapolis Athletic Club, Minneapolis, Minnesota from 2015 to 2017, where he successfully built and developed the club’s squash programs. Prior to his service at LTF, from 2014 to 2015, Shoby was the assistant squash professional at the McClean Racquet & Health Club in McClean, Virginia, where he coached squash, assisted with running all squash activities at the club and where he was the junior squash coordinator. Before coaching in Virginia, Shoby was the National Elite coach of the Malaysian National Squash Team from 2011 to 2014.
Coach Shoby is one of the foremost and best recognized squash coaches in the United States and has years of experience operating both junior and adult squash programs to ensure the highest levels of squash programming and player success. Shoby’s family tree includes many of the most renowned squash coaches in the United States, Asia and the world. Coach Shoby is beloved by all of his students from beginners to the highest level performers.

Coach Shoby has trained and coached multiple world class squash players and coaches: Former US Squash Head National Coach Ong Beng Hee, who reached men’s professional PSA world ranking of No. 7; Azlan Iskandar who reached men’s professional PSA world ranking of No. 10; Ivan Yuen who reached men’s professional world ranking of No. 72; Delia Arnold who reached women’s professional world ranking of No. 12; Zulhijjah Binti Azan who reached women’s professional world ranking of No. 75; Siti Munirah who reached women’s professional world ranking of No. 34; Vivian Rhamanan, Singapore’s No. 1 men’s squash player and PSA professional, world ranking No. 172 and Sivasangari Subramaniam who won Girls under-13 Asian and British Junior Championship and who has ranked in the top 10 in the Women’s PSA world rankings.
Shoby has also coached numerous highly successful amateur players, both juniors and adults, including many skill level tournament and local champions.
Coach Shoby is available for private and group lessons and clinics.
NATHANIEL (NATE) ILIFF
ASSITANT SQUASH COACH

Nate is a recent honors graduate of the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota and plans to practice law in court when not on the squash court.
LAYAN SOROUR
ASSISTANT SQUASH COACH
Assistant squash coach Layan Sorour, is a prominent member of the Boast squash community and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and love of squash with the next generation of squash players. Layan has been training with lead squash pro Shoby Gul since 2019 as part of the Boast Squash Junior Academy and is a regular participant in squash tournaments all over the country. Layan attends Minnetonka High School and is interested in pursuing both squash and computer science in college.
When she’s not on the courts or in class, Layan enjoys traveling, participating in school clubs and practicing yoga. Layan loves working with children and has experience in this area, having worked as a swim coach and lifeguard. With her knowledge and determination, she aims to empower emerging squash players and encourage them to reach their squash goals.
CELINE SOROUR
ASSISTANT SQUASH COACH
Assistant squash coach Celine Sorour has been an active member of the Boast Squash Junior Academy since September 2019. Celine works with newer players at Boast Squash, where she introduces fundamental techniques, builds confidence, and fosters a fun and encouraging learning environment. Celine’s experience as a competitive squash player allows her to connect with less experienced players and support their growth on and off the court. Celine competes in squash tournaments across the United States and she brings this valuable competitive experience to her coaching.
Celine is a former swim coach who loves working with kids and helping them reach their goals. She is currently a student at Minnetonka High School and is looking forward to continuing her squash career in college. Celine’s athletic background includes playing competitive soccer, running cross country and horseback riding and these sports developed her athleticism and her competitive mindset on the squash court. Outside the courts, Celine enjoys traveling, volunteering in her community and spending time with friends.
ARJUN GUPTA
ASSISTANT SQUASH COACH
Assistant squash coach Arjun Gupta joined the Boast Squash Junior Academy in 2025 and trains regularly with Coach Shoby Gul. Arjun also enjoys coaching and teaching the kids in Boast’s Intro to Squash program.
Arjun attends Edina High School in Edina, Minnesota and after graduation plans to play competitive college squash.
Arjun has won multiple squash tournaments and titles in his young career.
AMIRA FAKIER
ASSISTANT SQUASH COACH
Assistant squash coach Amira Fakier has been a part of the Boast Squash community since the Club opened in 2017. Amira has trained extensively with Coach Shoby Gul as a devoted and hardworking student of the game. Coach Amira is excited and happy to be able to teach the next generation of squash players at Boast!
Amira attends St. Louis Park High School and intends on playing college squash upon graduation, studying law and then playing professional squash. She also participates in the St. Louis Park volleyball and track programs as her cross-training regimen. When not on the courts, Amira enjoys spending time with friends and family and always staying active.
